A Flag Day commemoration will take place at St. Pius X Church, 6428 York Road, Saturday, June 14, noon to 4 p.m. Events include a flag ceremony, blessing of bikes and retiring of old flags.
The Baltimore Area County of the Boy Scouts and the Girl Scouts of Central Maryland will be on hand from noon to 2:30 p.m. to answer questions about Scouting.
A bike safety workshop for children ages 5 to 14 will be held in the school parking lot. Cyclists are asked to bring their bikes and helmets to participate. It will take place 12:30 to 1 p.m.
At 2:45 p.m., the flag ceremony will include a blessing of bikes, remarks by County Councilman David Marks and a color guard procession. Finally, there will be a flag retirement ceremony to include instructions on the lowering and retirement of worn-out flags.
The event is sponsored by the Baltimore Area Council, BSA-Dulaney District in partnership with St. Pius X, Bike Maryland, Maryland Department of Transportation/MVA, Stoneleigh Community Association, Girl Scouts of Central Maryland, Troop 23 and Unit 681, and the Baltimore County Police Department.
