We've become familiar with the antique car shows at the Fire Museum of Maryland over the years, but there is a different kind of vehicle show coming up Sept. 1 at the museum.
The fourth annual Wheels for Prostate Cancer Research Fundraiser welcomes any wheeled vehicle to compete — this includes bicycles, skateboards, unicycles, motorcycles and toys, along with the usual cars and trucks — anything with wheels that touch the ground and roll.
Participants will receive goody bags and trophies, along with other perks. The public is invited to come and view the various vehicles.
The show runs from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. The rain date is Sept. 15.
Registration is $20 if done by Aug. 25, and $25 the day of the show. Each registrant will be allowed free admittance to the fire museum, and the first 100 registrants will receive two free one day passes to the Maryland State Fair in Timonium.
The Fire Museum of Maryland is located at 1301 York Road, Lutherville.

We are in the dog days of August, that time when we look forward to all the activities and excitement that going back to school brings — while also savoring the last few weeks of summer.
Our community associations and groups have several events planned for September.
Fall picnics are annual events for several of our neighborhood associations. Folks in Longford North will be enjoying a Back to School Barbecue on Sunday, Sept. 2 on the parking lot of Grace Lutheran Church, 8601 Valleyfield Road.
Residents are asked to RSVP by Aug. 26, and should check the group's website at http://www.lnia.org for additional information.
Orchard Hills will host its 24th annual picnic on Saturday, Sept. 15, with food, fun and games for the entire family. Residents should check the website http://www.orchardhillscommunity.org for particulars and for RSVP information.
Yard sales are another popular fall activity. The Lutherville Community Association kicks off the fall yard sale season with its community sale on Saturday, Sept. 9.
If your community has a yard sale planned for the fall, let me know so I can share it with your neighbors.
There are still a few weeks of summer vacation and swimming at the local swim clubs. York Manor Swim Club wraps up the season with its annual Labor Day celebration, featuring family races, refreshments and more.
Enjoy the rest of summer and good luck to you and your families in the new school year!.Copyright © 2015, The Baltimore Sun
