A man police say threatened an employee at the Towson Town Center mall with a gun during the robbery of a swimsuit store last week was arrested Monday after robbing a cell phone store in Towson, according to Baltimore County Police.
Police spokeswoman Elise Armacost said Antonio Rennard Gilliam, 41, of the 6600 block of Windsor Mill Road in Gwynn Oak, was arrested Monday afternoon in a wooded area off Goucher Boulevard where police located him after the cell phone store robbery.
The first incident occurred at 10:50 a.m. on Thursday, Aug. 15 at the Everything But Water women’s swimsuit store, according to police.
Police said Gilliam walked into the store and asked the assistant manager for directions. Gilliam then told the assistant manager he had a gun and demanded and was handed money from the cash register.
Armacost said the assistant manager did not see the gun, but that Gilliam was charged with armed robbery with an implied weapon.
Then, at 12:49 p.m. on Monday, officers were dispatched to the Boost Mobile store in the 800 block of Taylor Avenue for a report of a robbery, Armacost said.
Police said a man entered the store asking to change cell phone plans but then the man leaned over the counter and demanded that the clerk hand over money from the cash register.
“(The clerk) believed that he was armed. The suspect spoke in an intimidating manner and she felt she would be harmed if she did not comply with his demands,” Armacost said. “She turned over cash as well.”
According to police, the man then fled on foot and was found a short time later, hiding beneath bushes in a wooded area off Goucher Boulevard.
Gilliam was charged with robbery in connection to Monday's incident, and is currently being held without bail, Armacost said.Copyright © 2014, The Baltimore Sun
