Baltimore County Police are urging residents to be careful with packages delivered to their homes after a pair of package thefts in the 1600 block of Loch Ness Road in the Loch Raven Village portion of Towson this month.

On Tuesday, March 26, a UPS package was stolen from the front porch of a home in the 1600 block of Loch Ness Road. A package was also stolen off a front porch in that block on Tuesday, March 19, though that package was later found down the street.

Cpl. Cathy Batton, a police spokeswoman, said the county suggests a few strategies to prevent package theft.

"One is to have the package delivered to a home where someone will be home at the time of the delivery," Batton said. "The second would be to leave a note or delivery instructions to leave it at some place that is not visible from the street, such as a side porch or garage if you have that."

Additionally, Batton urged residents to monitor the progress of their deliveries online to ensure they can notify police quickly if a package is stolen.
