Towson mall to open early for iPhone 5 release

With the much-anticipated release of the iPhone 5 less than a day away, the Apple Store at Towson Town Center is preparing for an early wave of customers expected to come to the mall early Friday morning.

Towson Town Center will open its doors at 7 a.m. Friday to let in shoppers who can't wait a moment longer to get their new iPhone 5. They'll have some time to line up, though — the mall's Apple Store won't open until 8 a.m., according to mall officials.

Another Towson retailer is also anticipating iPhone 5 sale, but won't be opening early. The Verizon store, on York Road, will open at 9 a.m.

Apple announced the release of the sixth generation iPhone on Sept. 12. According to information on Apple's website, the iPhone 5 will feature an increased display screen, faster Internet speed, longer battery life, and a more vibrant screen.

Apple is also boasting that the phone is the company's lightest, fastest, iPhone model. The phone will be available in both black and white, and will be carried by AT&T, Verizon and Sprint.
