A pair of Harlem Globetrotters was in Towson Friday to announce that the world-renowned basketball team will play three games at the new Tiger Arena at Towson University this summer.
After the soon-to-be-completed building holds the university’s graduations, the Globetrotters games on June 19, 20, and 21 will be the first ticketed events at the 5,200-seat arena.
“There is no better way for the Globetrotters and our fans to tipoff summer than open up a brand new world-class arena,” Globetrotters CEO Kurt Schneider said in a statement. “The anticipation of Tiger Arena’s grand opening, combined with our style of high energy family entertainment, will make June 19-21 three days remember.”
Tiger Arena will be home to the university’s basketball, gymnastics, and volleyball teams next season.
“We are excited to have the world famous Harlem Globetrotters as the first public ticketed event at Tiger Arena,” Towson University President Maravene Loeschke said in a statement. “We couldn’t think of a better way to introduce our brand new, state-of-the-art arena to the community.”Copyright © 2014, The Baltimore Sun
