Men posing as utility workers gain entry to homes of elderly women [Towson crime log]

The following is compiled from police reports from the Towson and Cockeysville precincts. Our policy is to include descriptions when there is enough information to make identification possible.

In two separate incidents, men posing as employees of a water company, gained entry into the homes of elderly women in Towson and Timonium on Nov. 7, police report. In the first incident, two men knocked on the back door of an 84-year-old woman's house in the 900 block of Southwick Drive in Towson at about 3 p.m. The pair entered the house and questioned the woman for several minutes before leaving. Nothing was reported stolen, police report. One of the men was described as Hispanic, 5-feet, 11-inches tall, weighing 160 pounds. The other intruder was described as Middle Eastern, 5-feet, 11-inches tall and weighing 250 pounds, police report.

In the second incident, two men posing as water company employees told the 91-year-old female resident of a home in the unit block of Hathaway Road in Timonium at about 2:45 p.m. that she had a ruptured pipe in her backyard. One of the men entered the house. No items were reported stolen, police report. No other information was available.

Towson

Southerly Road, 900 block, at 12:15 p.m. Nov. 9. Person called in report of burglary in progress. When police arrived, door was damaged and complainant was not at the site.

Donnybrook Lane, 200 block, between 2:40 a.m. and 3 a.m. Nov. 7. Woman, 22, held knife to 23-year-old woman's face and neck. Rosanna Coppola, 22, of the 200 block of Donnybrook Lane, arrested and charged with first-degree assault.

Treeway Court, unit block, between 11:30 a.m. and 4 p.m. Nov. 7. Person entered apartment, stole iPad, Apple laptop.

Taylor Avenue, 800 block, at 8:40 p.m. Nov. 5. Two men entered Dollar Tree. One man held knife to employee's side, ordered her to open cash register. Both men stole cash from cash registers, left store.

Bellona Avenue, 8200 block, between 6:15 a.m. and 4:15 p.m. Nov. 4. Burglar forced open front door of house, stole jewelry, personal papers.

Pleasant Oaks Road, 1000 block, between 5:30 p.m. Oct. 21 and 12:30 p.m. Oct. 23. 1996 GMC Sonoma, Virginia license plate WSB-6849, stolen from location.

Lutherville

Springvale Drive, 8700 block, between 5 p.m. Nov. 1 and 7:30 a.m. Nov. 4. Refrigerador stolen from home under construction.

Patann Road, 200 block, between 1 p.m. Oct. 30 and 12 p.m. Nov. 1. Person entered unlocked shed, drew obscene picture on floor.

Cockeysville

Church Lane, unit block, at 1:22 a.m. Nov. 4. Person used key, alarm code to enter Season's Pizza, steal safe containing cash.

Beaver Dam Road, 9700 block, at 1:30 a.m. Nov. 4. Two masked men entered 7-Eleven, robbed store at gunpoint. Robbers stole cash, lottery tickets, Newport cigarettes, cellphones and clerk's cellphone.

Old Padonia Road, unit block, between 6:30 p.m. Nov. 1 and 9:10 a.m. Nov. 3. Computer, construction equipment, electronics stolen from business.
