Man robs woman at Towson motel after answering classified ad [Crime Log]

The following is compiled from police reports from the Towson and Cockeysville precincts. Our policy is to include descriptions when there is enough information to make identification possible.

A woman was robbed on Feb. 7 after placing an ad on Backpage, a classified advertising website, and meeting a prospective buyer, police report. The woman met the male prospective buyer at 9:20 p.m. at the the Comfort Inn in the 8800 block of Loch Raven Boulevard, at which time the man said he had handgun and stole cash from the woman, police report.


Putty Hill Avenue, 1400 block, between 6 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. Feb. 15. Woman returned home to find basement window smashed, two bottles of liquor stolen from house.

Burke Avenue, 300 block, between 11:30 p.m. Feb. 8 and 1:30 a.m. Feb. 9. Four sets of keys, four wallets, duffel bag, other items stolen from apartment. No signs of forced entry.

Hillen Road, 800 block, between 5 p.m. Feb. 6 and 10:04 a.m. Feb. 11. Window broken, home ransacked while residents were on vacation. No items reported stolen.


Pot Spring Road, 2500 block, between 7 a.m. Jan. 29 and 5 p.m. Jan. 31. Person entered house, stole five pieces of silverware from china cabinet.


Beehive Place, unit block, at 2:40 p.m. Feb. 16. Person entered home through locked sliding door while resident was home. Burglar fled when it became apparent resident was home.

Church Lane, 100 block, at 8 p.m. Feb. 15. Two men jumped man, stole cash from wallet.

Gelding Drive, 10300 block, between 2 p.m. and 4:30 p.m. Feb. 12. Person broke into house through bedroom window, ransacked bedroom, stole cash.

Misty Lynn Circle, 1000 block, between 10:45 p.m. and 11 p.m. Feb. 10. Four men wearing clown masks forced way into apartment, abused and threatened to shoot 20-year-old man. Men in clown masks tied victim up, put him in bathtub, stole computer, cell phone, video game system, personal items, musical instrument. Men stole victim's car, which was later found unoccupied in same apartment complex.
