State Sen. Jim Brochin of Towson, who represents the 42nd District in the Maryland General Assembly, announced Friday that he will run for a fourth term in Annapolis in his new-look district.

"I really like being the voice for people who don't have a voice," Brochin said Friday. "It's important, and people appreciate it, and I feel like I'm giving back. I want to keep doing it."

Brochin, who was elected in 2002, pointed at his accomplishments local education, and said he has more work to come. He said he wants to continue working with constituents on the Loch Raven Elementary construction issue, the Mays Chapel Elementary redistricting, and the scheduling issues at Hereford High.

Brochin joins a race that currently has two other candidates filed ahead of the Feb. 25 deadline. Connie DeJuliis, a Democrat from Glen Arm, and Chris Cavey, a Republican from Parkton, have also filed with the  Board of Elections.

District 42 currently comprises Towson and Timonium, but the latest round of legislative redistricting expanded the district to include large swaths of northern Baltimore County.
