Baltimore County curbside collection of Christmas trees now under way

Baltimore County residents who want to recycle their Christmas trees should put them out for collection at the front curb from Jan. 14 to Jan. 19.

Trees should have no decorations, tinsel, bags or tree stands of any kind.

Those who wish to drop off Christmas trees at a county landfill may may take their tree, with no lights, decorations, tinsel, bags or tree stands, to one of these three locations:

• Eastern Sanitary Landfill Solid Waste Management Facility in White Marsh

6259 Days Cove Road,

Monday through Saturday, 7:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.

• Baltimore County Resource Recovery Facility in Cockeysville

201 West Warren Road. Facility entrance on Drop-off Drive off Warren Road, 1/4 mile west of York Road and 1/4 mile east of Beaver Dam Road. Note: Some computer map programs inaccurately show the West Warren Road address on the east side of York Road.

Monday through Saturday, 7:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.

• Western Acceptance Facility in Halethorpe

3310 Transway Road, off 4500 block of Hollins Ferry Road

Monday through Saturday, 7:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.

Trees collected by the county or dropped off at the centers will be chipped and used as mulch. The process, known as "treecycling," keeps the trees out of the county landfill and transforms them into useful landscaping material.
