A panel will delve into Perspectives on the Dream Act, the measure that would allow in-state tuition rates to children of illegal immigrants, at 6:30 p.m. Thursday. Panelists include Mark Krikorian, executive director at the Center for Immigration Studies; Tamar Jacoby, president of ImmigrationWorks USA; and Patricia Chiriboga-Roby, office director of World Relief Immigration Legal Clinic. Martin Ford, associate director of the Maryland Office for Refugees and Asylees will serve as moderator.
Healthcare Reform and Rebecca Pearce, director of the Health Benefit Exchange of Maryland will lead the discussion.
On Oct. 25, "Your Vote and Your Wallet" will center on the economy. Panelists include Anirban Basu, chairman of Sage Policy Group, Inc.; R. Andrew Bauer, Baltimore Office of the Federal Reserve Bank of Richmond and Daraius Irani, associate vice president, Division of Economics and Community Outreach and director of the Economic Studies Institute at Towson University. Brian Sullam, communications manager at T. Rowe Price, and former reporter and editorial writer at The Baltimore Sun will moderate.
All discussions will run from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. at the Towson Library, 320 York Road. Refreshments will be served at all events.
The library will also host an election returns watch starting at 8 p.m. Nov. 6. Guests will hear commentary throughout the evening by Matthew Crenson, political analyst and Johns Hopkins University political science professor.
