Baltimore County Executive Kevin Kamenetz is scheduled to present his latest budget proposal to the County Council on Tuesday morning.
Kamenetz is set to appear before the council at 10 a.m. to pitch his plan for spending county tax dollars for the fiscal year that begins July 1. This past year's fiscal year budget allocated $1.75 billion in operating costs and $176 million toward construction projects.
The county has not raised its rates for property taxes or local income taxes in more than 20 years.
Kamenetz already announced that rates for water and sewer service will increase by 15 percent starting July 1, with the additional money going toward repairs and improvements to the region's aging water and sewer system.
Council members will review the budget and can make cuts, but they cannot add money to the budget. They also cannot change the water and sewer rates, which Kamenetz sets by an administrative order.
The county executive's speech is open to the public and is scheduled for 10 a.m. Tuesday in the Historic Courthouse, 400 Washington Ave. in Towson.
The county will livestream the speech online at
