After watching his team fall behind 10-0 to host Perry Hall in the first four minutes Wednesday night, Hereford coach Jim Rhoads, may have thought, "Where's the defense?"

Lackluster defense or not, it just seemed like the Gators just couldn't be stopped.

Perry Hall shot 55 percent from the field, including a sizzling 73 percent on two-point shots in a 63-44 victory over the Bulls.

"We came our on fire," Perry Hall coach George Panageotou said. "We stressed to come out out hot early and build a lead. We try to do it with defense and steals and then fast breaks."

Nine Perry Hall players scored, led by sophomore shooting guard Derrick Green with 21 points. He added seven steals. Teammate Tyler White chipped in 11 points, two steals and two assists.

Hereford senior guard Matt Greenspan (10 points) was the only Bull to score in double figures.

Hereford (10-12) struggled from the field in the first quarter as the Bulls went 2-for-11 enabling Perry Hall to build a 19-4 advantage. Green had nine points during that sequence.

The Gators (13-9) pushed their lead to 30-8 with two minutes remaining in the second quarter on Green's jumper.

Perry Hall put the game out of reach in the third quarter by starting the period on a 13-0 run to go ahead 47-13.

"They are big, strong and fast," Rhoads said. "When we get behind like that, it just makes them play better."

Chandler Aversa (8 points), Dylan Riggle (7), Christoph Osuji (6), Wanyae (4), Darnell Harrison (2), Dante Green (2) and Mike Twining (2) accounted for the remainder of Perry Hall scoring.

Hunter Kotchenreuter (7 points), Scott Isett (6), Josh Reider (5), Brooks Wilhelm (4), Jordan Young (4), A.J. Endres (3), Jay Patti (2), Jack Adams (2) and Aaron Geschwilm (1) also scored for Hereford.
