Our local Pet Valu store, at 5007 Honeygo Center Dr in Perry Hall, is bringing a VIP Pet Care Veterinary Clinic to our neighborhood. This nonemergency vet care clinic features vaccinations and micro-chipping among its services for dogs and cats. In addition, on the Saturdays of May 25, June 8 and June 22, from 9:30 a.m. to 11a.m., rabies vaccines for dogs will be administered free of charge. I

Store manager Andrew Thompson has been employed by Pet Valu for the past two years. He proudly showed me a picture of his beautiful Doberman pinscher, Bamarama Bam-Bam. "I got him (Bam-Bam) through the \Wounded Warrior Project, he said. The Wounded Warrior Project is an organization whose mission is to honor and empower wounded soldiers. A past administrative NCO, Thompson is an eight-year Army veteran. "I spent eight months in Walter Reed Hospital learning to walk again," he said. Needless to say, Thompson and Bam share a very strong bond.

The last date of the Baltimore County Health Department's Rabies Vaccination Clinic takes place on June 15 from 10 a.m. to noon at Baltimore County Animal Control & Shelter, 13800 Manor Rd, in Baldwin. At this clinic only, pet adoptions, animal licenses and micro-chipping of pets also will be available. Dogs and cats must be on a secure leash or in a properly sized, escape proof carrier. Vaccinations cost $8 per animal. For information, call 410-887-2723 or visit http://www.baltimorecountymd.gov/go/rabiesclinic (Note: Rabies vaccinations are also available by appointment throughout the year at the animal control location – call 410-887-5961 for details.)

As you know from the last column, there is a pet bed drive, through Kuranda USA, to provide beds for Baltimore County Shelter animals. Even one bed helps many pets as the shelter can continue to use it for years. Donating a bed is easy, just go to kuranda.com/donate/8712 and the page will come up for our county shelter in Baldwin. There are two sizes of dog beds and a cat bed from which to choose, all at a special donation discount. Beds ship directly to the shelter in your name. For details, contact email carol@kuranda.com or call 800-494-7122.
