Calling all pets to the Honeygo park for rabies shot clinic [Perry Hall]

Pet owners in Perry Hall will soon have a low-cost opportunity to get a rabies vaccination for their furry friends.

Baltimore County Department of Health will hold a rabies vaccination clinic for dogs, cats and ferrets at nine locations on separate dates in the county from the beginning of May until mid-June.

The first takes place in Perry Hall/White Marsh on Sunday, May 5, from 1 to 3 p.m., at Honeygo Run Regional Park, 9033 Honeygo Blvd., in Perry Hall.

The last is in Jarrettsville/Jacksonville on Saturday, June 15, from 10 a.m. to noon, at Baltimore County Animal Control, 13800 Manor Road, in Baldwin. At this last clinic only, pet adoptions, animal licenses and micro-chipping of pets will also be available.

Dogs and cats must be on a secure leash or in a properly sized, escape-proof carrier. Aggressive dogs must be muzzled. Vaccinations cost $8 per animal.

For additional locations and/or more information, call 410-887-2723 or go to Note that rabies vaccinations are also available by appointment throughout the year at the animal control location — call 410-887-5961 for details.

There is currently a pet bed drive under way, through Kuranda USA, to help give Baltimore County shelter animals some of the comfort of home. The dogs and cats desperately need beds to sleep on! This is an affordable donation and even one bed helps many pets as the shelter can continue to use it for years.

Kuranda beds keep pets dry and off the cold, hard floor; the shelter floor is concrete. They are also easy to clean and odor free. To donate a bed, go to and the page will come up for our county shelter in Baldwin.

There are two sizes of dog beds and a cat bed from which to choose, all priced at a special donation discount. Beds ship directly to the shelter in your name. Donate a bed as a gift or in memory of a loved one and they will mail a free personalized gift card from you. For details, email Kuranda at or call 800-494-7122.

Dennis M. Robinson Jr., president of the Perry Hall Improvement Association, reports that when Baltimore County Executive Kevin Kamenetz released the budget for the next fiscal year, we benefited.

"With respect to Perry Hall, the budget includes funding for several projects, including a new athletic center and additional playing fields, lighting improvements at Perry Hall Elementary School and construction of the Indian Rock Trail.

"This was truly a team effort. County Executive Kamenetz, Councilman David Marks, Councilwoman Cathy Bevins and the other members of the County Council deserve credit for their fiscal stewardship during these difficult economic times.

"I also thank Senator Kathy Klausmeier for helping to secure additional funding from the state for the new athletic center. This project would also not have been possible without the efforts of several volunteers with the Perry Hall Recreation and Parks Council, including Jerry and Pat Soukup, Bill Paulshock and Paul Amirault."

The PHIA will hold its general meeting on Thursday, May 9. State senators and delegates who represent Perry Hall will provide a summary of the 2013 legislative session. All meetings are at 7:30 p.m. at the Perry Hall Library, 9685 Honeygo Blvd.

Please join the PHIA on Saturday, April 27, for its first 2013 cleanup of Honeygo Boulevard and help keep one of Perry Hall's main corridors attractive. Email if you would like to volunteer.
