Abigail Schwartz of Perry Hall graduated summa cum laude with a bachelor’s degree in business management and economics with a minor in psychology at Washington College’s commencement ceremony on May 19.
While at Washington College, Schwartz served as senior layout editor for the college’s literary magazine, The Collegian, then became the magazine’s editor-in-chief. She also worked as an intern at the Rose O’Neil Literary House.
Schwartz studied abroad at the American Business School in Paris during her junior year. In addition, she completed a senior thesis, titled, “Housing Bubbles Abroad: The Experiences of Ireland, Spain and the United Kingdom.”
Schwartz was selected to become a member of multiple academic honor societies, including Phi Beta Kappa, Omicron Delta Epsilon, the international honor society for economics; Sigma Beta Delta, the national honor society for business management; and Psi Chi, the international honor society for psychology.
She also received the Johnson Internship Award and was a finalist for the Schottland Business Leadership Award.
A 2009 graduate of Perry Hall High School, she is the daughter of Julie Schwartz-Bonner and granddaughter of the late Adam D. Cockey Jr.
