Crews have reopened a major road in Parkville after the force of water from a massive water main break Tuesday evening damaged it.
The 24-inch water main break is in the 2300 block of Putty Hill Avenue, and the road was closed from Perring Parkway to Old Harford Road, authorities said..
At least one lane of Putty Hill had reopened in each direction by Wednesday morning, though crews continued to dig in the area, said Kurt Kocher, a city public works spokesman.
Baltimore public works spokesman Kurt Kocher said no residents or businesses lost water during the break, which occurred sometime between 3 p.m. and 4 p.m. He said utility customers in the area may see discolored water in the aftermath of the break, but he said it was iron sediment from the pipes, which could be cleared up by removing any aerator on the faucet and letting the tap run for up to 30 minutes to clear the pipes. If any problems persist, he urged customers to call 410-396-5352.
