Dozens of customers lined up outside the new Big Lots store in Lutherville Friday morning for the store's grand opening and store manager Dan Enoff said the excitement won't likely wane soon.
"I think us being a closeout store in this economy, the value is really going to bring people in," Enoff said. "We're kind of a niche in the community."
Big Lots, which has locations in Reisterstown, Middle River, Dundalk and Catonsville, as well as several in Baltimore City, bills itself as the continent's largest closeout retailer.
The Lutherville location is located at 130 W. Ridgely Road, in a space formerly occupied by Circuit City in Lutherville Station.
At the grand opening on Friday, customers received small giveaways and gift cards to go along with the store's already low prices, Enoff said.
District Manager Tom Kayda, who during the ribbon cutting also presented a $1,500 check from Big Lots to Ridgley Middle School, said that the store's ultimate success would come down to its employees.
"They understand customer service, they understand the importance of it," Kayda said. "We carry great merchandise at great prices, but the bottom line is how the guest is treated in the store. We expect her to be treated great."Copyright © 2015, The Baltimore Sun
