Pizza delivery driver stabbed in Essex

Three people robbed and stabbed a pizza delivery driver in Essex Monday night, Baltimore County police said.

The delivery driver, a 20-year-old man, stopped in the 1100 block of Tace Drive shortly before 11:30 p.m. when three people stabbed him in the upper body, and robbed him, police said. He was taken to area hospital for treatment.

"Everybody is concerned. It's not safe working out here like this," said Aadil Ehsan, a manager at the Back River Neck Road restaurant where the driver works. He said another employee was robbed weeks earlier.

"You can't stop working. Every night they think it could be the next time," Ehsan said.

He said the driver worked at the restaurant part time and is also a student. He said he has talked to the employee and that he has returned home from the hospital.

Essex Precinct Assistant Commander Lt. Joe Jamerson said another pizza delivery driver was robbed on June 7. He could not say Tuesday if the two incidents are related.

Police spokesman Cpl. John Wachter said the department is withholding the victim's name for safety as police have not made any arrests in the case.

The Baltimore County Police Violent Crimes Unit is investigating.

Anyone with information on the stabbing is asked to call county police at 410-307-2020 or Metro Crime Stoppers at 1-866-7LOCKUP.
