A man was critically injured in Dundalk Monday night after being stabbed by a man who had been arguing with a woman in the middle of a street moments before.

The victim, Steven Hunt, 27, was walking with a relative near the intersection of Dunran Road and Dunbar Road at around 9 p.m. when he came upon another man arguing with a woman, Baltimore County police said.

The man, identified by police as Kenneth Crockett, 35, then tried to fight Hunt and his relative, though police did not have more details on what set off the attack. Hunt was stabbed and was still listed in critical condition at the Maryland Shock Trauma Center on Tuesday morning.

Crockett, whose birthday was on Monday, was charged with attempted first-degree murder and several other counts, and is being held without bail. He had no attorney listed in court records.

Crockett ran away after the stabbing, police said, and was found in a car. He had approached the driver of the car, told the driver he had been assaulted and needed a ride, then climbed in.

Police did not elaborate on any relationship between the parties involved, or where on his body Hunt was stabbed.
