The large number of house burglaries and thefts from vehicles in North County that marked the first days of Capt. Dennis Delp's job as precinct commander in Cockeysville has dropped after the arrests of two men.
Jesse Hoopes, 35, of Fork, was arrested on Jan. 28, according to Baltimore County police spokeswoman Louise Rogers-Feher. She said Hoopes, who drove a red pickup truck, reported by residents to be spotted at the scene of several area robberies, was still being held in the Baltimore County Detention Center as of March 14. He is being charged with numerous burglaries, the police spokeswoman said.
Police also arrested Brendan Szymanik, 23, of Baltimore, Delp said. He is charged with burglaries.
The string of house burglaries and car thefts mounted in December and January, according to police reports.
Many of the car thefts occurred in the Jacksonville area. Many of the home burglaries, often during the day, were in Monkton, Parkton, Phoenix and Sparks.
