One determined fan of the annual Catonsville Fourth of July Parade used a sofa, recliner and end table to reserve viewing spots along Frederick Road near Hillcrest Elementary School. The tradition of using chairs and other materials to save spots goes back more than 50 years, according to a former parade grand marshal.
