Catonsville High to celebrate Breast Cancer Awareness Month

The Catonsville Comets football team will recognize Breast Cancer Awareness month at Friday's game against the Milford Mill Millers.

"Both varsity teams will sport pink gear, and the field will be decorated with breast cancer awareness banners, all donated by the Ravens," a flier for the event said.

Poe, the Baltimore Ravens mascot, will be in attendence and will be wearing pink to support the cause. Fans are also encouraged to wear pink, the flier said.

Each October, players in the National Football League sport custom pink jerseys, gloves and more to raise awareness about breast cancer.

"Our campaign, "A Crucial Catch," in partnership with the American Cancer Society, is focused on the importance of annual screenings, especially for women who are 40 and older," the NFL website said.

"Throughout October, NFL games will feature players, coaches and referees wearing pink game apparel, on-field pink ribbon stencils, special game balls and pink coins - all to help raise awareness for this important campaign," the website said.
