An 81-year-old Towson woman was struck by a Jeep Grand Cherokee at the intersection of Frederick Road and Egges Lane around noon Tuesday, police spokeswoman Louise Rogers-Feher said.
At 12:15 p.m. Baltimore County Police were dispatched to 754 Frederick Road for the incident, she said.
“It was what we consider a low speed crash. He was not going fast," Rogers-Feher said of the Cherokee's driver.
The woman was airlifted from the scene in a police helicopter to University of Maryland Shock Trauma Center and Rogers-Feher said she is in critical condition.
"The person is a Priority 1 which is pretty high on the list, and the State Police Trooper 1 [helicopter] was called," Rogers-Feher said.
The Baltimore County Fire Department is working with the Police Crash Team to investigate the incident, Rogers-Feher said.
"Obviously this is a nasty little scene," Armacost said. "Whenever you have a serious crash or accident the Crash Team is brought in.
"They are the experts on crash scenes on something like this where a pedestrian was struck," she said. "It has to be real bad [for them to be called]."
Rogers-Feher said Tuesday afternoon that the incident is still under investigation.
