Two injured in vacant home collapse in Oella

Two people were injured when a wall collapsed on them in a vacant home in Oella on Tuesday, Baltimore County police said.

Police responded to the 400 block of Oella Avenue at 4:53 p.m. and both people were removed from the building by 5:14 p.m. One was transported to Maryland Shock Trauma by ground and the other by helicopter, police said.

The two injured were either owners of the home or related to the owner, police said.

Residents had gathered across the street of the vacant home to find out what had happened in their quiet Catonsville neighborhood.

Melissa Schwarz, 45, was driving home from work, when she saw the helicopter flying overhead.

"With the age of the houses around here, it's not surprising that this happened," she said.

The Baltimore County Fire Department is investigating the incident.
