A townhouse was destroyed and a volunteer firefighter was injured Thursday night in a fire in the 5800 block of Ivy League Drive near the campus of CCBC Catonsville, according to Baltimore County police.
Baltimore County police and fire were dispatched to the scene at 9:52 p.m., and found the porch on fire when they arrived, said Baltimore County police spokesman Cpl. John Wachter.
Police said a second alarm was called by Baltimore County Fire Department commanders just after 10 p.m. as the fire began to spread to adjacent units. Two families were displaced, police said.
A volunteer firefighter was transported to St. Agnes Hospital for treatment of smoke inhalation, police said.
No one else was injured, according to police.
Firefighters returned to the scene at 8:49 Friday morning because of reports of smoke coming from the house, police said.
Police said they are continuing to investigate the cause of the fire.
