Baltimore Gas and Electric (BGE) announced Monday that it will begin a project in mid-April to upgrade a natural gas main under Wilkens Avenue in Catonsville.
The main runs from South Rolling Road to just beyond a traffic circle at Hilltop Road, along Wilkens Avenue.
The construction is scheduled to take place outside of rush hours between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m., the company said in an April 7 release.
Wilkens Avenue and South Rolling Road will remain open for the duration of the project.
However, there will be ongoing, temporary lane closures in order for crews to access sections of gas main underneath the road, the statement said.
When the work is finished, the disturbed lane will be repaved by BGE, the statement said.
The project is expected to begin next week and continue through early fall 2014.
Updates on the project will be available on the BGE website at bge.com/gasprojectupdate.
