The Maryland State Highway Administration announced that the ramp from the Inner Loop of the Baltimore Beltway to Frederick Road in Catonsville will be closed, beginning Thursday.
SHA crews are nearing completion of the second half of the new bridge and this week will begin relocation of the ramp from northbound I-695 (Inner Loop) to Frederick Road.
Weather permitting, the ramp from Frederick Road to southbound I-695 (Outer Loop) will be closed between 8 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 3, and 5 a.m. Wednesday, Dec. 4, and between 8 p.m. Wednesday and 5 a.m. Thursday, Dec. 5.
The detour from Frederick Road will be to northbound I-695 to exit 14, Edmondson Avenue, turn left at the bottom of the ramp and turn right onto the ramp to southbound I-695.
SHA and its contractor will close the ramp from the Inner Loop of I-695 to Frederick Road for approximately three weeks beginning Friday, Dec. 6, by 5 a.m.
The detour from northbound I-695 will be to the Edmondson Avenue exit, then west on Edmondson Avenue to turn right onto the ramp to southbound I-695, then exit onto Frederick Road.
Weather permitting, the new ramp from the Inner Loop to Frederick Road will open in late December, along with the second half of the new bridge (the future eastbound lanes of Frederick Road).
The old ramp will be closed and removed.
The $16.5 million project to replace the Maryland Route 144 (Frederick Road) bridge over I-695 in Catonsville is expected to be complete in the spring, weather permitting.
