Among the throngs of Ravens fans making the trek to New Orleans this weekend is Catonsville resident Doug Miller.
Miller, formerly a 25-year resident of Arbutus, is one of two team chiropractors for the Ravens who made the trip to Louisiana.
The Ravens fan said the excitement has built with each passing week of the postseason, beginning with the victory over the visiting Indianapolis Colts and continuing with the thrilling triumphs on the road against the Denver Broncos and New England Patriots.
"It's been a whirlwind the past three or four weeks," he said Friday morning from New Orleans.
In his 17 years with the Ravens, Miller has already been to one Super Bowl.
He said his first, Super Bowl XXXV in Tampa, flew by so quickly he almost didn't get a chance to appreciate it.
"It's almost like a wedding," Miller said of the experience, which culminated in a Ravens victory over the New York Giants. "It goes by so quick and there is lots of excitement, but you don't really remember because it goes by so quick."
This time around, he is older and wiser, and plans to soak up every minute of the experience as the Ravens take on the San Francisco 49ers.
"I'm older now and as you get older you tend to appreciate things more. I'm looking at this event and just trying to take it all in," Miller said.
The atmosphere in New Orleans is one of intense excitement and anticipation, he said.
According to Miller, Ravens fans are already showing their pride down south, more so than the fans of the team from California.
"There just seems to be a lot more purple and Ravens fans and excitement," Miller said.
"It starts off exciting and it just gets more exciting," he said.Copyright © 2014, The Baltimore Sun
