Charlestown physical therapist raises $2,700 in half-triathlon

Heidi Smith, a physical therapist for the Charlestown retirement community, raised more than $2,700 competing in the Ironman 70.3 Augusta Half Ironman triathlon last weekend, according to a press release from Charlestown.

The money will go toward the Scott Rigsby Foundation and Wounded Warriors.

“The Scott Rigsby Foundation couldn’t be a better organization for me to partner with,” Smith said in the release.

Smith grew up in Germany on Army and Air Force bases, the release said, and she currently lives in Overlea.

“The military is near and dear to my heart.  It couldn’t be more perfect and it also ties thematically to my work at Charlestown.”

Of the 1,198 women who participated in the event, Smith finished 738th in the 1.5-mile swim, 253rd in the 56-mile bike ride and 444th in the 13.1 mile run for an overall time of 6:16:04, the release said.
