Baltimore County police have charged a couple in connection with a non-fatal stabbing outside a Dundalk High's Dairy Store that occurred after what police believe was an argument over drugs Sunday night.
Shawn Allen Novak, 28, of Baltimore and Ann Marie Preston, 27, of Dundalk, were arrested Monday and face first- and second-degree assault charges, after officers were called about 10 p.m. Sunday to the 6800 of Broening Road in Dundalk for reports of an assault. They found a 32-year-old man with cuts to his upper body. He was taken to Johns Hopkins Bayview Medical Center for treatment.
The victim told police he knew the couple and that they had agreed to meet them when he got into an argument about a drug deal between him and Preston, police said. The victim told police that Novak then stabbed him and he ran to the High's store to call for help. He told officers that the suspects left in a vehicle driven by Preston.
Novak, of the 600 block of Arsan Avenue, is being held without bail at the Baltimore County Detention Center. Novak, who has faced several drug-related charges in the past, had a court appearance scheduled for possessing and distributing drugs July 15, according to court records. In 2008, he received a one-year sentence on drug possession charges.
Court records show Preston, of the 4100 block of North Point Road, was sentenced to 18 months supervised probation in November for charges related to selling drugs. She has been released on $50,000 bail.
