Two people were killed Tuesday afternoon in a head-on collision in Randallstown, police said.
At about 2:20 p.m. a sedan being driven by Melvin Bettis III, a 22-year-old from the 4700 block of Old Court Road in Pikesville, crossed over the center turn lane on McDonogh Road near Star Circle, according to Baltimore County Police.
Bettis' car collided with an oncoming sedan driven by Andre Murphy, 60, who lived in the 7400 block of Rockridge Road in Pikesville. Both drivers were killed in the crash.
A third vehicle was hit after the initial collision, but that driver was not injured, police said.
According to preliminary reports, each car had only one occupant.
Speed was likely a factor in the crash, police said.
McDonogh Road was closed for several hours between Winands and Painters Mill roads; the road reopened about 7 p.m., police said.
