The junior played a majorrole in McDonogh repeatingas Interscholastic AthleticAssociation of Marylandchampion this spring. A versatileperformer, she helpedthe Eagles in sprints, relaysand field events. She won the100 (12.20 seconds) and 200(25.29), ran on the first-place400 relay (49.80) and tookthird in the long jump at theIAAM title meet.
Kimbers' absence from thewinter meet because of afreak foot injury likely costthe Eagles the title, and cocoachJeff Sanborn said theywere thrilled to have herback this spring.
COACH OF THE YEAR: Sarah Sheetz, Catonsville
She did a good job of helpingbuild the Comets into awell-rounded team thatcame in second in the countyand sixth in the state in Class3A. She had All-Metro performerKellie Christian, anda number of other good performersin sprints, relaysand field events gave theteam a good foundationthroughout the season.
The Comets suffered atough loss in the BaltimoreCounty meet, coming in aclose second to Hereford, butbounced back later to edgethe Bulls in the state meet.
