Baltimore County police have charged an Overlea man in the stabbing of an off-duty Baltimore police officer early Thursday at a strip club in the Dundalk area.

The officer, identified Friday by county police as Eric Jansen, 42, shot another man in the upper body during the altercation at Christina's Female Revue in the 4500 block of North Point Blvd. That man, who authorities have not identified, was being treated at Maryland Shock Trauma Center in Baltimore and was also expected to be charged in the case, according to Bill Toohey, a county police spokesman.

Lucas James Baumeister, 23, of the 400 block of Marjeff Place was being held without bail at the Baltimore County Detention Center on charges of attempted first-degree murder and assault. Police said he and the man hospitalized at Shock Trauma stabbed Jansen in the neck and lower back as the 15-year veteran of the city department left the strip club about 2 a.m. Jansen, who is part of a specialized gun unit in the Violent Crimes Impact Division, then shot one attacker with his department-issued handgun, according to Anthony Guglielmi, a city police spokesman.

Jansen was treated and released Thursday from Shock Trauma. Police said investigators have not determined a motive for the attack.
