About 200 former Towson Catholic High School students and alumni are expected to attend a reunion picnic from 1 p.m. to dusk Sunday at Double Rock Park in Parkville. Students, who have transferred to other schools since the Archdiocese of Baltimore abruptly announced the closing of the 86-year-old school in July, will receive their yearbooks and have a chance to visit with the faculty and former classmates.

"It will be like a homecoming for these kids," said Lois Windsor, a parent volunteer. "We know we have most of their teachers coming."

The school, on the grounds of Immaculate Conception parish, made an annual tradition out of the yearbook distribution at the school's fall homecoming. The event usually drew all the students and numerous alumni, including the most recent graduates, she said.

The rising seniors have had the most difficult transition, said Windsor, whose daughter Elisa wears her TC class ring and will graduate from Mercy High School in the spring.

"Every one of these seniors has done something to incorporate TC into their new schools," she said.

The school was closed because of declining enrollment and unpaid tuitions, sparking protests. Parents sued unsuccessfully to reopen the school, and alumni started a fundraising drive.

The reunion is free. The park entrance is at 8211 Texas Ave. Information: lwindsor@capgaz.com or 410-258-6010.
