Baltimore County police were seeking a gunman Sunday night who appeared to have been shot by a security officer during an armed robbery at an Arbutus food store. The officer was not injured, police said. Shortly before 7 p.m., police responded to Mars Super Market at the Maiden Choice Shopping Center in the 1000 block of Maiden Choice Lane, where a store security officer exchanged gunfire with an armed robber, who may have been shot by the officer before driving off in a car. A short time later, an Arbutus resident called police and reported seeing a man who appeared to be wounded abandon a car on a street in the Broadfield neighborhood. Police said ground units, at least one K-9 officer and the crew of a county police helicopter joined in an extensive search for the robber. Area hospitals also were alerted in case the man seeks medical treatment. It was not known if the gunman made off with any money, police said.
