Police investigating fatal motor scooter crash in Lansdowne

Baltimore County police said Tuesday that they are investigating a fatal motor scooter accident in Lansdowne Monday at the intersection of Hollins Ferry Road and Hammonds Ferry Road.

At 2:46 p.m., Monday Baltimore County police and fire personnel responded to the intersection for a report of a serious crash, police said.

A Honda CRV was traveling eastbound on Hollins Ferry Road when it collided with a motor scooter traveling northbound on Hammonds Ferry Road, police said.

Police said the operator of the motor scooter, 33-year-old Derrick Lawson, of the 2900 block of Grantley Avenue in the Park Heights area of Baltimore City, was transported to St. Agnes Hospital and later pronounced dead.

The accident is under investigation by the Baltimore County Police Department crash team. Its findings will be presented to the Baltimore County State Attorney's Office, which will determine whether charges will be filed.
