Two alarm fire in Lansdowne injures firefighter

At 12:35 p.m. Baltimore County fire units arrived to an apartment building at 2 Silerton Road in Lansdowne in response to a call for an apartment fire.

"Initial interior fire attacks were attempted, but due to the amount of fire. crews were evacuated," a county press release said. "Primary searches were completed and all residents had self extricated from the building."

"The fire was placed under control (by 1:50 pm) and crews were able to enter the building to assist the fire investigators in an attempt to determine the cause and origin of the fire," the release said.

As a result, 12 apartments suffered damage from water, smoke or fire, according to the release.

The American Red Cross is assisting the 13 adults and 14 children who were displaced by the damage, the release said.

One firefighter was transported to a local emergency room for a non-life threatening hand injury sustained at the scene, the release said. No one else was injured.

According to the release, the cause and origin of the fire are still under investigation.
