A Brooklyn husband and wife have been charged in connection with the stabbing death of a Lansdowne man early Sunday morning.
Shelbie Mech, 31, of Brooklyn, was arrested Monday and charged with first-degree murder in the stabbing while her husband, Michael Singer, 35, was charged with accessory after the fact, according to a Baltimore County Police press release.
According to police, a large fight broke out on the patio of the Fish Head Cantina on Benson Avenue in Arbutus shortly before 1:30 a.m. July 7.
After the fight, John Bowman, 22, of Lansdowne, was being restrained by a security guard and was being pulled away from the area. Police allege Mech then stabbed Bowman several times.
According to the release, Bowman was taken to University of Maryland Shock Trauma Center, where he was pronounced dead. He was later taken to the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner, where his death was ruled a homicide.
According to police, Singer was performing at the bar that night. Singer prevented a security officer from detaining his wife so that she could leave the bar, police said.
The relationship between the victim and suspects is unknown at this time. Baltimore County Police have given no motive behing the stabbing.
According to the release, Mech is being held without bail at the Baltimore County Detention Center in Towson. Singer is also being held at the Baltimore County Detention Center on a $1,000,000 bail.
