Arbutus volunteers help rescue trapped victim after accident on Baltimore Beltway [AVFD reports]

Among the 52 calls for medical and fire-rescue service the Arbutus Volunteer Fire Department received during the period Sept.15-22 were the following: 

Beechfield Avenue at Wilkens Avenue, 6:20 p.m. Sept. 19. Crews from the Arbutus volunteer station and Catonsville career station responded to the report of a motor vehicle accident in Arbutus involving a pedestrian. One critically injured person taken to University of Maryland Shock Trauma Center.

Franklin Avenue, 5900 block, 7:23 p.m. Sept. 18. Crews from the Arbutus and Woodlawn volunteer stations and Westview career station responded to the report of an apartment fire in Westview. A malfunctioning furnace was found, but no fire.

Fairview Avenue, 1800 block, 10:47 p.m. Sept. 17. Crews from the Arbutus, English Consul, Lansdowne and Violetville volunteer stations and Catonsville and Halethorpe career stations responded to the report of a residential fire in Halethorpe. A fully involved vacant dwelling fire was extinguished. No injuries reported.

Interstate 695 between Southwestern Boulevard and Wilkens Avenue, 7:48 a.m. Sept. 17. Crews from the Arbutus volunteer station and Catonsville and Halethorpe career stations responded to the report of a motor vehicle accident on the Baltimore Beltway in the Arbutus area with a person trapped in a vehicle. One seriously injured person rescued from the vehicle and taken to University of Maryland Shock Trauma Center. One person with non-life-threatening injuries taken to a local hospital.  

Westland Boulevard, 5000 block, 7:37 p.m. Sept. 15. Crews from the Arbutus and Violetville volunteer stations and Catonsville and Halethorpe career stations responded to the report of an apartment fire in Arbutus. A kitchen fire was extinguished.
