Country music singer Keith Urban was slated to perform the NFL's Kickoff Concert at the Inner Harbor beginning at 6 p.m., and the Orioles are slated to play the Chicago White Sox at Camden Yards beginning at 7:05 p.m.
At 5:15 p.m., the Maryland Transportation Authority posted on its Twitter page, "Heavy traffic expected Downtown/Inner Harbor due to NFL kickoff event & Orioles game. Use alternate routes."
Around 3:30 p.m., the Maryland Transit Administration posted on its Web page that the Baltimore Department of Transportation cautioned that heavy traffic volume was expected. "Orioles and Ravens fans are encouraged to use public transit," the statement said.
And the State Highway Administration posted at 4:30 p.m. that to avoid heavy Interstate 95 traffic motorists headed north or south of Baltimore should consider taking I-695 or I-895.
At 5:30 p.m., the state Department of Transportation reported no incidents within city limits, and MTA reported minor MARC train delays.
At 8:35, DOT reported on its Maryland 511 State Twitter page an accident on the outer loop of I-695 at the I-83 South exit, but it reported the accident cleared five minutes later.Copyright © 2015, The Baltimore Sun
