The Baltimore City fire and police department were among the groups that turned out Sunday morning to take part in the 911 Run to Remember 5k run and 1-mile walk downtown.
The event started at the 9/11 Memorial in front of the World Trade Center on East Pratt Street and made its way through the downtown area to Federal Hill Park.
The run was designed to commemorate the anniversary of 9/11, but also to support community responders. Organizers said proceeds benefit the Baltimore City Police Foundation, in particular the Mounted Unit and Explorers Group, and the Baltimore City Fire Foundation to assist those families that have lost a loved one in the line of duty.
The Institute for Foot and Ankle Reconstruction at Mercy Hospital served as the title sponsor, and the race was managed by Charm City Run. Results will be posted on CharmCityRun.com.
