The following is a listing of some of the 9/11 commemoration events planned in the greater Baltimore area for Sept. 11, 2013:
8:46 a.m.-noon. Firefighters will toll a Bell of Remembrance at 8:46 a.m. at Baltimore Fire Department Steadman House, Eutaw and Lombard streets.
8:46 a.m. Howard County officials will lay a wreath at Centennial Park's Garden of Hope, Ellicott City. The garden is dedicated to four victims from the county who died in the Sept. 11, 2001, attacks.
8:30 a.m. The JROTC Raider Battalion at Atholton High School, Columbia, will host a ceremony to remember the local victims of 9/11.
9 a.m. At Century High School in Sykesville, a student will read a summary of events of 9/11, and at 9:03 a.m., Taps will be played in the school building.
9:58 a.m. Anne Arundel County officials will conduct a ceremony at the county 9/11 Memorial at county fire and police headquarters in Millersville.
10 a.m. Gov. Martin O'Malley will kick off the 2013 Day to Serve at a rally at Baltimore Community ToolBank on Wicomico Street, marking Sept. 11 as the National Day of Service and Remembrance.
10 a.m.-6 p.m. Though not a special event, the 9/11 Maryland Memorial Exhibit is displayed at Top of the World Observation Level at the World Trade Center at the Inner Harbor. The display shows information on Maryland victims of the Sept. 11 attacks.
11 a.m.-2 p.m. Towson University will host the September 11th Operation Patriot Challenge at Burdick Field. Ceremonies, followed by a food and activities.
4 to 6 p.m. Firefighters, residents and Harford County Dels. Pat McDonough and Rick Impallaria will conduct a flag-waving event at the Route 152 overpass at I-95 in Joppa. Parking at the park-and-ride lot on Mountain Road.
7:30 p.m. The Peace and Hope Foundation will host a candlelight vigil at McAvoy's in the Putty Hill Shopping Center, 2531 Putty Hill Ave., Parkville.
