Crews battle two early morning fires in Baltimore

Firefighters battled two separate single-alarm fires in the Harlem Park and Hanlon-Longwood neighborhoods early Tuesday morning, according to the Baltimore City Fire Department.

The first fire, which was called in at 4:47 a.m., occurred in a three-story rowhouse in the 1000 block of Edmondson Avenue in Harlem Park, fire officials said. No injuries were reported, and the fire was under control at 5:20 a.m.

At around 6:30 a.m., another fire broke out in the basement of a residential building in the 3300 block of Gwynns Falls Parkway in Hanlon-Longwood.

Department spokesman Ian Brennan said one occupant was transported to a hospital for treatment of minor injuries, but the fire was "quickly extinguished."

The cause of both incidents remain under investigation.
