Fire in vacant East Baltimore rowhouse under investigation

City firefighters battled a fire in a vacant East Baltimore rowhouse early Saturday, a department spokesman said.

Roman Clark, the Baltimore Fire Department spokesman, said a unit responded to a working fire in the 500 block of N. East Ave. shortly after 1 a.m.

The house, between Jefferson and McElderry streets, was vacant, he said. No injuries were reported, and Clark said the cause of the fire remains under investigation.
