Police investigating several weekend shootings

Man shot Friday afternoon dies of his injuries.

Baltimore police are investigating the fatal shooting of a man who walked into an area hospital Saturday evening.

Police said they responded to the call about 5:15 p.m. of a victim who had been shot in his stomach. The man, who was not identified, died from his injuries.

Police said investigators believe the victim was inside a house in the 4000 block of Duvall Ave. when he was shot by an unknown suspect.

In a separate incident, police said a man walked into an area hospital with gunshot wounds on Saturday morning. The victim is being treated for his injuries. Detectives from the Citywide Shooting Unit do not know where the shooting took place.

A man who was shot on Friday afternoon in West Baltimore later died of his injuries, police said Saturday. He was identified as 37-year-old Damien Simms of the 4700 block of Gateway Terrace.

Police said they had been called to the 1700 block of Pennsylvania Ave. for a report of a shooting. Officers found the victim suffering from gunshot wounds.

He was taken to an area hospital, where he died. Detectives believe the victim was shot in the 600 block of Laurens St. and ran to the Metro Station on Pennsylvania Avenue.
