Baltimore shootings mount, with three fatalities since Thursday

Two men were shot and killed in Baltimore in separate incidents Friday night and early Saturday morning amid a rash of shootings in the city over the last few days.

In the latest incident, someone called police to report an unresponsive, bleeding man in the 2300 block of Frederick Ave. in southwest Baltimore, around 1:15 a.m. Saturday. The man, who had been shot multiple times in the head, was found in the rear of a Citgo gas station in front of the Westside Shopping Center, police said. He was pronounced dead at a hospital and has not yet been positively identified.

Another man was shot in the head and killed Friday around 9:40 p.m., in the 1600 block of Gertrude St. in West Baltimore. The victim, Gregory Price of Baltimore, was pronounced dead on the scene.

The incidents follow more shootings in the last few days in Baltimore. Six people were wounded in separate triple shootings in Baltimore late Wednesday night and Thursday morning, while three more were injured in separate shooting incidents Thursday and Friday.

A man who was fatally shot Thursday night in southwest Baltimore, in the 2800 block of Edmondson Ave., has not yet been publicly identified by police.

Last year, 12 people were shot in Baltimore – three of them fatally – over Memorial Day weekend. Police said they would beef up patrols and closely monitor known violent offenders this holiday weekend.
