Two men killed in shootings hours apart in West Baltimore

There have been more than 335 shootings this year in Baltimore, an 11% increase from this time last year

Two men were killed in shootings hours apart in West Baltimore, police said Saturday.

About 9:10 p.m. Friday, police were called to the 700 block of N. Monroe St. in the Midtown-Edmondson neighborhood. At the scene, officers discovered a male suffering from multiple gunshot wounds to his body. He was taken to an area hospital, where he died.

He was identified as Kareem Samuel, 27, of the 600 block of Montpelier St. 

A man was killed in another shooting in West Baltimore early Saturday, city police said. Officers were called at 1:15 a.m. to the 200 block of N. Fremont Ave. in Poppleton, where they found a man who had been shot in his upper body. He was taken to an area hospital where he died from his injuries. Police have not yet released his name. 

Homicide detectives are investigating and ask anyone with information to call Metro Crime Stoppers at 1-866-7Lockup. 

There have been more than 335 shootings this year in Baltimore, an 11 percent increase from this time last year.
