A woman who had spent the night at the Weinberg Housing and Resource Center was found dead across the street Tuesday around 3:30 p.m., according to a spokesman.
Lee Martin, program director for Weinberg Housing and Human Services, declined to give the woman’s name but said she was homeless and had been a resident of the shelter, which is owned by Catholic Charities and serves as the city’s emergency shelter.
The woman had fallen earlier in the week and was taken to the University of Maryland’s Midtown campus, he said. After being discharged from the hospital, she arrived back at the shelter Monday night.
The following day, she was spotted lying in the grass on the Fallsway by residents of the shelter. They alerted staff, who called emergency personnel, and pronounced the woman dead.
