Baltimore City firefighters battled a two-alarm fire early Monday that engulfed a home in the Northwest Community Action neighborhood.
Crews arrived about 1 a.m. to the 2900 block of Belmont Avenue. They encountered heavy fire conditions that rapidly extended from the first to second floor in the brick dwelling. No residents were home at the time. The fire was quickly brought under control, officials said.
The resident of an adjacent dwelling complained of mild smoke inhalation and was treated at the scene. No other injuries occurred. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
